We celebrated Week of the Young Child April 16-20 with the theme “Multicultural Diversity” to honor families with young children from different cultural backgrounds.
The week-long celebration was filled with interactive activities that promoted the importance of early learning, which helps children succeed throughout life.
During the annual celebration, hosted by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), our young learners participated in fun activities based on daily themes, introducing students to a world of music, food, and community resources.
The week kicked off with Music Monday, allowing children to develop math, language, and literacy skills through music, dancing, and folklore.
On Tasty Tuesday, young children cooked together and learned about nutrition and creating life-long fitness habits.
Work Together Wednesday focused on cooperation and teamwork. Our young learners across all of our sites had fun playing and building together to explore math and science skills.
During Artsy Thursday, children explored art in creative ways. While examining the natural art of the outdoors, the youngsters learned as they created with patterns, paint, and papier-mâché. Children exercised their imaginations, developed social skills and learned about the world we live in.
Our 2018 Week of the Young Child wrapped up by celebrating the heart of all early learning: families! Children explored their unique family structures and relationships as they shared pictures and stories about their families. Many of our parents came into the classrooms for hands-on learning with their children!
Certainly, we had so much fun celebrating #woyc18, we can’t wait for next year’s celebration!
