The Powell Foundation, Program Officer Makia A. Thomas visited our Parent-Child Education Program (PCEP) at Freeman E. S. to learn more about the program.
During her visit, Ms. Thomas had the time to visit with the participating mothers, who expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to learn different ways to raise their children while strengthening family ties and relationships. She also visited the early childhood education classroom, where she witnessed firsthand the curriculum used for children ages six weeks to 3.
“We are grateful to the Powell Foundation as funds are vital in assisting AVANCE Houston PCEP to continue teaching participants how to build their social and economic capital,” Executive Director Luz Flores said.
