‘Connecting Together’ Parent Summit was a total success

Our Parent Summit returned after a two-year hiatus! This year’s theme, “Connecting Together,” brought nearly 30 parents who took home all the necessary tools to help their children succeed.

The Summit is coordinated through an ongoing effort of our Education Department, whose goal for this Summit is to inform and provide behavioral support, conscious discipline, and educational resources to all parents in attendance.

At the Summit, all sessions emphasized parental involvement’s importance and provided strategies for positive early social-emotional development. Additionally, parents were exposed to “Wall Picture,” a workshop led by the Parent-Child Education Program. During this session, participants learned how to make educational toys from recyclable materials to enhance their child’s cognitive, emotional, social, and language skills.

Throughout the Summit, parents delve into learning sessions, such as My Child’s Social & Emotional Development by Lakeshore and Your Child’s Development, Why it Matters, and How Can We Help by Family to Family Network.

While parents interacted with other parents and asked questions, at the same time, their children were able to immerse themselves in fun learning activities.

Parents in attendance were treated to lunch and entered several giveaways, including tablets and educational baskets.

Special thanks to everyone who helped and contributed to making this Summit a fabulous success: Yvonne Leal, DePelchin Children’s Center, Therapeutic Intervention Services Inc., Change Happens, and the Houston Dynamo- Soccer Starts at Home.
