Cindy Tran stepped into the role of Chief Financial Officer for AVANCE-Houston in January, 2017. Cindy has been a member of the AVANCE family since 2000. She started out at the AVANCE-National Headquarters in San Antonio. She came to AVANCE-Houston in 2002 as Senior Director of Finance before advancing to Chief Financial Officer.

Cindy has an extensive background in finance and accounting and earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting at the University of Texas at San Antonio. She came to the United States from Vietnam in the summer of 1989 and settled in San Antonio, where she graduated from Winston Churchill High School.

Cindy and her husband (Don) have helped their neighbors in their Southwest Houston-area community fill out their income tax returns through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. Don still actively volunteers, and Cindy has her hands full keeping up with their two sons, Preston, 10, and four-year-old Winston.
